Sarah Burton has been named Givenchy’s new creative director, and she will show her first designs in March 2025. The acclaimed Burton, who spent her entire career at Alexander McQueen, becomes the French maison’s eighth designer since it was founded in 1952.
Sarah Burton, who famously designed Kate Middleton’s wedding dress, at 49, joined the label McQUEEN as creative director in May 2010.
The gorgeous Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown featured French Chantilly lace and English Cluny lace throughout the bodice, skirt and underskirt. The flowing skirt, made of ivory and white satin gazar, was designed to emulate an opening flower. Some call her “Sahara Burton” because of her fashion poverty, but maybe she will flourish at Givenchy?
