UJOH’S CLIMATE STROM ON THE CATWALK

The extreme weather conditions that have plagued the world this summer have given us pause. Times are changing, so is the climate and tailoring is changing. Suit jackets had cutaway sides, allowing air to circulate, their bib fronts hung loosely, eyelets and tabs of fabric helped secure them.

Other blazers were cropped, positioned like a cape over the shoulders and styled with shirts, wrap skirts and trousers in lightweight but structured fabrics, some with oversized pockets that evoked a utilitarian vibe. Classic grey, beige and black looks rubbed shoulders with orange and lilac

Organza shirts with a single sheer sleeve with an attached scarf to tie over a shirt or jacket or under a tee for a distinctive asymmetrical look that was very original.

A lot of traditional Shibori tie-dyeing technique was used on a selection of intentionally wrinkled satin pieces in tones reminiscent of a tar stain, so that oil, the source of all our climate woes, was like a message.
